EssayPro vs PapersOwl vs EduBirdie Review: Prices, Policies and an Alternative
This EssayPro review also covers PapersOwl and EduBirdie. All three sites advertise prices from $8 to $11 a page. On Oct 11, 2026 we tried to get a price for the same 10-page research paper on each site, then read their terms, refund policies and codes of conduct side by side. Here is what we found, and what US law and school rules say.

EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie are writing services where human writers bid on your order. All three are run by registered companies that publish terms and refund policies (Devellux Inc. in Delaware; two companies in Cyprus). None of the three showed us a price for a 10-page research paper due in 7 days without an account; their advertised rates start at $11 (EssayPro) and $8 per page (PapersOwl, EduBirdie), plus extras. All three advertise unlimited revisions, but the documents behind them set limits from 72 hours to 30 days, and all three forbid handing in their papers as your own work. If you want to write your paper yourself with help, StudyTexter guides you to your own draft for $79 one-time and is free up to your proposal draft.
We tried to price the same order on all three sites
The reviews we looked at quote a price per page. We wanted the price for one defined order: a 10-page research paper, college level, APA, due in 7 days. On Oct 11, 2026 we entered this order on PapersOwl and EduBirdie and clicked “Write my paper” on EssayPro. We did not enter an email address, did not create an account and did not send anything.
| Step | PapersOwl and EduBirdie | EssayPro |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Start | “Writing: Only $8/page” is preselected | “Write my paper” opens the sign-up page |
| 2. Paper and subject | Research paper, English | not reached |
| 3. Instructions and pages | 10 pages; the form says 10 double-spaced pages are 2,750 words | not reached |
| 4. Deadline | Oct 18, 2026, 11:45 p.m.: “7 days left”. Note on the page: “The deadline affects the price.” | not reached |
| 5. Next click | “Create your account” | “Sign up with email” or Google |
| Academic level asked? | no, not before the account page | not reached |
| Price shown? | no | no |
Result: none of the three sites showed a price before the sign-up page. That is not an error. All three work with bids. PapersOwl and EduBirdie write: “The pricing for our Services is based on a bidding model”, and the final price is “the amount of the bid accepted by you”[9][14]. EssayPro asks you to sign up, fill out a form and “review proposals from paper writers”; its terms add that “the Expert determines the final price” after reviewing an order[1][2].

- 1Order summary: research paper, English, 10 double-spaced pages.
- 2Deadline set to Oct 18, 2026, 11:45 p.m. The form shows “7 days left”.
- 3Early draft offered for +15% to a price the form does not show.
- 4“Next” leads to “Create your account”. No price up to this point.
Order form on papersowl.com, Oct 11, 2026, 08:50 UTC (screenshot taken by StudyTexter; EduBirdie’s form had the same steps and texts).
- Accounts. One person from our team signs up on each site with the same order: research paper, English, college, 10 pages, 7 days, APA.pending
- Bids. We record the first three bids per site within 24 hours, with screenshots and time stamps.pending
- Full price. Bid plus any service fee, before extras.pending
- Stop. We stop before any writer starts working and document how each site handles it.pending
This test needs an account on each site. We will add the results with a date once a person on our team has done it. Until then this page makes no claim about real prices.
What EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie publish about prices
Without an account you only see starting rates and a list of extras. Here they are, as each site showed them on Oct 11, 2026:
| Site | Writing, from | Other services, from |
|---|---|---|
| EssayPro | $11 per page[1] | rewriting and editing $8, proofreading $6 per page[5] |
| PapersOwl | $8 per page on the homepage[6]; “$13.99/page” on its price page[7] | editing $9.99, other tasks $16.00 per page[7] |
| EduBirdie | $8 per page[12] | no separate list found |
PapersOwl gives two different starting rates: “$8 per page” on the homepage and “from $13.99/page” for writing on its own price page[6][7]. EssayPro says the price per page goes down as you add pages and goes up for short deadlines[1].
Extras at PapersOwl and EduBirdie
| Extra | PapersOwl | EduBirdie |
|---|---|---|
| Top 50 writers | +10% | +10% |
| Top 20 writers | +20% | +20% |
| Early draft | +15% | +15% |
| Grade A guarantee | from $10.00 | from $2.99 |
| VIP support | $12.99 | $12.99 |
| Detailed outline | $12.00 | $12.00 |
| 1-page abstract | from $8.00 (price page: from $9.99) | from $8.00 |
| Writer picked for you | $9.99 | not mentioned |
EssayPro lists unlimited sources, a plagiarism and AI report, formatting, a title page and revisions as free “upon request”[1]. Its terms add one condition: if you don’t provide the references, the expert may find them, “but an additional fee will apply”[2].

Pick your page count and the extras. The calculator multiplies the advertised starting rates. Your real price is a writer’s bid.
The fine print: revisions, refunds and reports
All three homepages promise unlimited revisions[1][6][12]. The documents behind them set time limits: 14 or 30 days at EssayPro. At PapersOwl and EduBirdie, the payment policies give you 3 days after the final upload or 72 hours after the deadline before the money goes to the writer[2][9][14].
| Site | Website says | Terms say |
|---|---|---|
| EssayPro | “Unlimited edits free of charge” within 14 to 30 days[1] | Written request within 14 days after delivery for fewer than ten pages, 30 days for more than ten. Only changes within your original instructions are free. The terms do not say which period applies to exactly ten pages. Without a revision request within 8 days after the deadline, the money goes to the writer automatically.[2] |
| PapersOwl | “Unlimited revisions”; up to 10 pages 14 days, over 10 pages 30 days from the deadline[6] | Terms: same 14 and 30 days[8]. Refund policy: 3 days after the final upload to send complaints or revision requests; on day 4 the money goes to the writer automatically[9]. |
| EduBirdie | “Free, unlimited revisions” within your original instructions[12] | 72 hours after the deadline to send complaints or revision requests. If nothing comes within 24 hours after a reminder email, the money goes to the writer.[14] |
| Site | Refund, for example | No refund, for example |
|---|---|---|
| EssayPro | 100% if no expert has been assigned yet. Canceled later but before the final upload: 70 to 100%. Plagiarized work: a refund against a report “by a reliable service”, amount not stated.[3] | a lower grade than expected; after six months; the service fee, unless the order evaluation is 0%.[3] |
| PapersOwl | 100% if canceled before a writer is assigned or within 20 minutes; late and not downloaded; plagiarism over 15% in a full report; AI content over 30% in a Turnitin report.[9] | you downloaded the paper; no detailed “list of violations”; the 72-hour refund period has passed.[9] |
| EduBirdie | almost the same list as PapersOwl, including the 15% and 30% thresholds.[14] | order shown as finished; no “list of violations”; the 72-hour refund period has passed.[14] |
Reports: EssayPro gives one originality report and/or one AI-detection report for the final version on request, free[2]. PapersOwl and EduBirdie advertise a free originality report[6][12]. PapersOwl’s refund policy adds: “we do not and cannot guarantee that any Services will be plagiarism-free”[9].
Three clauses in detail
- EssayPro, after a refund: the company “has the right to keep full authorship” of the paper from a canceled order, and you may no longer use it. The refund policy adds: “We upload such Products to the services repository”[3].
- PapersOwl and EduBirdie, Grade Guarantee: a paid extra for US customers only. It refunds the order if “the submission completed by our service” gets less than an A-, proven with the grade and the professor’s feedback[9][14]. PapersOwl’s terms add that the guarantee does not protect against disciplinary or legal action from misuse of the paper[8]. The same sites’ fair-use rules say you must not submit their papers as your own work[10][15].
- EduBirdie, two documents: its general terms speak of “Study Materials”, a 7-day refund window and “Partial refunds are not allowed”. The separate payment and refund policy, which describes writer bids and orders, does allow partial refunds[13][14].
Who runs EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie?
| Site | Company named in the terms | Law and courts |
|---|---|---|
| EssayPro | Devellux Inc., incorporated in Delaware, Dover, DE, USA[2] | Delaware law, state or federal courts in Kent County, Delaware; no jury trial |
| PapersOwl | EFLAME HOLDING LIMITED, Nicosia, Cyprus; payments by Flintn Technologies, Cyprus[8] | laws and courts of Cyprus |
| EduBirdie | Radioplus Experts (reg. no. HE 419361), Nicosia, Cyprus; payments by Flintn Technologies, Cyprus[13] | laws and courts of Cyprus |
- PapersOwl and EduBirdie use the same order form with the same steps and texts, and their payment and refund policies are almost word for word the same. Their terms name two different companies with addresses in the same office building in Nicosia (PapersOwl’s terms from 2022, EduBirdie’s from 2024)[8][13]. We make no claim about who owns them.
- All three describe the paper as a sample or learning aid in their rules. EssayPro: “Customers must not seek to hire or hire an Expert to complete assignments, write papers for submission”[2]. PapersOwl: “Submitting the provided materials, in whole or in part, as one’s own work for academic credit” is prohibited[11]. EduBirdie: “We ask you not to submit any of the Papers acquired here as your own work.”[15]
Is it allowed? What US law and school rules say
There are two questions here: may a company sell papers, and may you hand one in.
Three state laws we checked: aimed at sellers
- California: no one may prepare or sell a term paper, thesis, dissertation or other written material for another person for a fee if they know, or should reasonably know, that it will be submitted for academic credit at a college or university in the state (Education Code § 66400)[23].
- New York: preparing or selling written assignments for money, when the seller knows or has reason to believe they will be submitted, is a class B misdemeanor (Education Law § 213-b)[24].
- Florida: selling or advertising papers that are meant to be submitted without substantial changes is a second-degree misdemeanor. The law does not cover tutoring or editing a paper you wrote yourself (§ 877.17)[25].
Other states have their own rules; we checked these three. The three laws are written for people who sell papers. We found no clause in them that punishes the student. We make no statement on whether any of these laws applies to EssayPro, PapersOwl or EduBirdie; all three say in their own rules that their papers are not for submission.
Outside the US
A 2022 UK law makes it an offense to provide such a service, in commercial circumstances, to a student in England (Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022, section 27)[26]. Australia passed a similar law in 2020[27]. The services list these countries themselves: EssayPro names England, Wales, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Austria, among others, as places where some uses “directly violate the law”[4]. PapersOwl names, among others, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, EduBirdie England and Wales, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand as prohibited jurisdictions[8][13].
EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie reviews: what the ratings tell you
All three homepages show high ratings. Here is where they come from:
| Site | SmartCustomer · Trustpilot |
|---|---|
| EssayPro | 4.9 / 5 from 32,395 reviews[17] · profile removed[16] |
| PapersOwl | 4.7 / 5 from 5,414 reviews[18] · profile removed[16] |
| EduBirdie | 4.7 / 5 from 3,992 reviews[19] · profile removed[16] |
- Trustpilot shows the same note for all three: “This profile has been removed”. The business “goes against our guidelines and is no longer visible on Trustpilot.” Trustpilot gives no specific reason[16].
- SmartCustomer marks all three profiles as “Paying Business” and “Claimed”. On the first review page of each profile, 20 of 20 reviews (EssayPro), 27 of 27 (PapersOwl) and 11 of 21 (EduBirdie) carry the label “Automated Invitation”[17][18][19]. Shares of 1-star ratings: EssayPro 1%, PapersOwl 6%, EduBirdie 7%.
- Apps: the EssayPro app has 4.9 from 2.1K ratings in Apple’s US App Store and 4.8 from 2.2K reviews on Google Play[21][22].
- Reviews.io: PapersOwl’s homepage shows “4.8 on REVIEWS.io”; the Reviews.io page showed 4.6 from 336 reviews on Oct 11, 2026[6][20].
We make no statement about whether individual reviews are genuine.
Where the essay services are the better fit
An essay service offers things an AI tool does not. Some of them do not involve handing in someone else’s work:
An essay service can make sense if …
- you want a person to edit or proofread a paper you wrote (EssayPro lists editing from $8 and proofreading from $6 a page)
- you want to read a sample paper to learn structure and sources, the way the services’ fair-use rules describe it (check your school’s policy first: some schools count any use of such services as cheating)
- you want to chat with a human writer and pick one from profiles and ratings
- you need editing or a sample within hours: all three accept deadlines from about 3 hours, at a higher price
- you want your payment held as a deposit until you release it (all three sites; it is released automatically if you don’t react in time)
StudyTexter fits better if …
- you hand in the paper under your name and want to write it yourself
- you want to know the price before you start: $79 for up to 20 pages, one-time
- you want your proposal draft for free before you pay anything
- you want to pick yes or no for each source yourself, from a search across 479M+ sources
- you want a plagiarism and AI check included in the price of every package
StudyTexter does not offer a human writer or editing and proofreading by a person.
If time is your problem and the paper has to be yours:
The alternative: a guided draft you write yourself
Pay per page for someone else’s paper that you may not hand in, or pay $79 once for your own guided draft? With StudyTexter you build the paper in 12 steps, from your topic in one sentence to an exportable draft. Steps 1 to 5 are free and end with your proposal draft: topic, problem statement, research question and draft outline. The literature search starts at step 6 with a package. In the finished draft, each citation shows its source and page number in the Evidence View.
Topic in your words
Describe your topic in your own words. One sentence is enough to start.
| Feature | EssayPro, PapersOwl, EduBirdie | ![]() |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes | a writer who bids on your order | you, starting from a guided AI draft that you revise |
| Price for 10 pages | a writer’s bid after sign-up; homepage rates add up to $80 to $110 | $79 one-time, package up to 20 pages |
| Price before sign-up | not shown in our test | fixed package prices |
| Free part | no free part of the ordered paper mentioned; you pay a deposit when you accept a bid (EssayPro’s free AI tools are a separate product) | steps 1 to 5, up to your proposal draft |
| Sources | not described in detail; EssayPro’s terms: extra fee if you don’t provide references (its homepage says sources are free) | 479M+ sources searched; you pick yes or no for each one (step 6) |
| Citations in the text | not described in detail | each citation shows its source and page number in the Evidence View |
| Plagiarism and AI check | EssayPro: report on request. PapersOwl, EduBirdie: free originality report; full refund above 15% plagiarism or 30% AI (Turnitin) | plagiarism and AI check included |
| Handing it in under your name | forbidden by each service’s own rules | you are the author; check your course’s AI rules |
StudyTexter offers over 2,800 citation styles; you pick yours in step 3, which is free, so you can check there whether the style you need is available. You can export your draft as Word, PDF, LaTeX or Google Docs. Check your school’s AI policy and your syllabus before you use any AI tool, and say so where your course asks you to.
EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie: FAQ
Is EssayPro legit?
EssayPro is run by Devellux Inc., a company incorporated in Delaware according to its terms, and it publishes terms, a refund policy and apps. Whether you may use it for graded work is a different question: its own terms say the papers are not for submission, and schools such as CUNY list commercial term paper services as cheating.
How much does EssayPro cost?
EssayPro advertises writing from $11 per page (275 words). The real price is a writer’s bid that you see after you sign up; in our test on Oct 11, 2026 no price was shown before the sign-up page. At the starting rate, 10 pages would be $110. EssayPro may also charge a service fee, and its amount is not stated.
Are PapersOwl and EduBirdie legit?
Both name a company in Cyprus in their terms (EFLAME HOLDING LIMITED and Radioplus Experts). They use the same order form and almost identical refund policies. Their Trustpilot profiles have been removed; on SmartCustomer both show 4.7 out of 5. Their fair-use rules say the papers are not for submission.
Which is cheaper: EssayPro, PapersOwl or EduBirdie?
By advertised starting rates, PapersOwl and EduBirdie ($8 per page) are below EssayPro ($11). But PapersOwl’s own price page says “from $13.99/page”, and on all three sites the final price is a writer’s bid. Extras such as a top writer (+10% or +20%) or an early draft (+15%) raise the price at PapersOwl and EduBirdie.
Can I get a refund from an essay service?
Only in the cases their policies list. EssayPro refunds 100% if no expert has been assigned and does not refund because of a lower grade. PapersOwl and EduBirdie refund in full, for example, if a full report shows more than 15% plagiarism or Turnitin shows more than 30% AI content, and their policies set a 72-hour refund period after the deadline.
Can my professor tell if I used an essay service?
We can’t say how a single school checks. What we can say: school policies such as CUNY’s count it as cheating. CUNY lists “using commercial term paper services” as cheating, with sanctions up to suspension or expulsion.
What is a good alternative to EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie?
If you need to hand in your own paper: StudyTexter guides you in 12 steps from your topic to a full draft that you revise. Steps 1 to 5 are free up to your proposal draft; the package for up to 20 pages is $79, one-time, with plagiarism and AI check included. You stay the author.
Method and disclosure
We read websites, terms and reviews ourselves, back every number with a source and access date, and only add test results once we have them. Found a mistake? We correct it with a date.
On Oct 11, 2026 we read the homepages, FAQs, terms, refund and payment policies, fair-use rules and codes of conduct of EssayPro, PapersOwl and EduBirdie, plus Trustpilot, SmartCustomer, Reviews.io and the app stores. We entered one test order into the PapersOwl and EduBirdie order forms up to the sign-up page and followed EssayPro’s order button to its sign-up page. We did not create accounts, place orders or contact the services. Screenshots with time stamps (order forms, Trustpilot and SmartCustomer pages) and copies of the terms are on file.
For the legal part we used the official Florida statutes, legislation.gov.uk, legislation.gov.au and public copies of the California and New York codes, because the official California and New York pages blocked our browser. The school policies are examples. This is not legal advice.
StudyTexter is a company in the same market. That is why we only state facts with a source and a date, quote the services’ own documents and say where they are the better fit. We do not name writers or reviewers shown on their sites. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will correct it and date the change.
Changes: Oct 11, 2026 first version; same day: corrections after our internal fact check (state-law scope, refund thresholds per service, revision windows, deposit, sources).
