Jenni AI Review 2026: What You Get, What It Really Costs and the Alternative
Many Jenni AI reviews quote prices that no longer exist, and some quote the annual price as if it were the monthly one. We read Jenni’s pricing page in both billing views, the terms, the refund policy and the privacy policy on Oct 10, 2026, and built a calculator for the cost until your deadline.

Jenni AI is an AI writing editor from Jenni AI, Inc. (Delaware) that suggests your next sentence and cites papers from your library. It is a copilot: you still write the paper. The advertised $12 (Plus) and $29 (Pro) per month only apply if you pay for a full year. Billed monthly, it is $30 and $73. If you need a complete draft with real sources, page numbers, plagiarism check and AI-score check, StudyTexter is a one-time payment from $79 and free up to your proposal draft (the first version of your research proposal). You stay the author.
What is Jenni AI?
Jenni AI is an AI writing editor made by Jenni AI, Inc., registered in Wilmington, Delaware[3]. The homepage calls it an “Intelligent Research Assistant”[2]. You write in Jenni’s editor, and Jenni suggests how the sentence or paragraph could continue. Around that sit a chat with your uploaded PDFs, a paper search and one-click citations.
The key point for students: Jenni is a copilot. It helps while you write, but it does not plan and build the paper for you. StudyTexter starts earlier: you plan topic, sources and outline in a fixed sequence, and you end up with a complete draft that you revise.

Jenni AI pricing: what “$12 a month” really means
Jenni’s pricing page opens in the Annual view with a “Save 60%” badge. That is where the familiar $12 (Plus) and $29 (Pro) come from. Switch to Monthly and Plus costs $30, Pro $73 a month[1]. We checked both views in a browser on Oct 10, 2026. Prices are in USD; Jenni says local currency is shown in the app.

- 1Monthly or Annual: the page opens on “Annual” with a “Save 60%” note. Here we switched it to “Monthly”.
- 2Plus: $30 a month when billed monthly. The $12 is only the annual view.
- 3Pro: $73 a month when billed monthly, $29 in the annual view.
- 4Free plan: 10 AI autocompletes a day, 3 AI edits and 5 AI chat messages.
Screenshot of jenni.ai/pricing, Oct 12, 2026, 03:54 UTC, taken by StudyTexter in a browser set to US English. Unedited, the numbered marks are ours[1]. Below the plans the page says: “Pricing in USD. Local currency available in app.”
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Main limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10 AI autocompletes a day, 5 AI chat messages, body text export only |
| Plus | $12 / month | $30 / month | 5,000 autocompletes a month, 500 AI edits, full export |
| Pro | $29 / month | $73 / month | unlimited autocomplete, edits, chat and reviews |
For a student with one deadline, the billing choice matters more than the plan. The calculator shows what you actually pay until you submit.
Price check: what other reviews still say
We compared the prices in five Jenni reviews with the pricing page. Four of them describe prices or limits that Jenni no longer shows. If a review quotes a $20 “Unlimited” plan or a 200-words-a-day free plan, it is out of date.
| Review | Price it quotes | Matches jenni.ai today? |
|---|---|---|
| AIToolsBakery, updated Sep 5, 2026[10] | Plus $12 / $30, Pro $29 / $73 | yes |
| GPTZero, May 28, 2026[8] | free plan with 200 words a day | no, the free plan now counts 10 autocompletes a day |
| WriteTested[11] | older plan names and prices | no |
| Techpoint Africa, Apr 4, 2025[12] | “Unlimited” plan | no |
| Undetectable AI blog, Aug 21, 2026[13] | $12 to $20 “Unlimited” | no |
Is Jenni AI free?
Yes. The free plan needs no credit card[1]. It is built for trying the editor, not for writing a paper:
| Feature | Free plan | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| AI autocomplete | 10 a day | 5,000 a month |
| AI edits | 3 to 5 (card and table differ) | 500 a month |
| AI chat with your PDFs | 5 messages | 500 a month |
| PDF uploads | 10 (25 MB, 150 pages) | unlimited (100 MB, 500 pages) |
| Citations | unlimited | unlimited |
| Export | body text only | full document |
Ten autocompletes a day is enough to see how Jenni writes. A 10-page paper has roughly 3,000 words, so plan on Plus if you want Jenni to help across the whole paper.
Citations and sources: how reliable is Jenni?
Jenni’s strongest feature is its citation workflow. You upload PDFs or import them from Zotero or Mendeley, and Jenni links claims to “the exact page and paragraph” of the source, according to the homepage[2]. It also searches its own paper database.
- A short test went well. GPTZero generated about 250 words with Jenni and checked every citation: 9 of 9 were real and correct. GPTZero sells an AI detector, so it is not neutral, and 250 words is a small sample[8].
- Reviews still advise checking. Unite.AI lists “citations can be inaccurate or irrelevant” as a drawback[9].
- The style count is inconsistent. Jenni advertises “10,000+” citation styles on the pricing page, while its Italian pages say “2,600” in other places.
Plagiarism and AI checks
Jenni’s current homepage and pricing page mention neither a plagiarism checker nor an AI detector (as of Oct 10, 2026)[1][2]. That matters because many universities check submissions for plagiarism, and some also for AI.
In GPTZero’s test, the Jenni-written passage was flagged as 100% AI-generated[8]. That is not a flaw specific to Jenni: AI-written text that you do not rework is easy to detect. The practical consequence is the same with every tool. Rework the text in your own words and check the result before you submit.
StudyTexter includes a plagiarism check and an AI-score check in every package, so you see both scores before you hand anything in.
Ratings and user reviews
On Trustpilot, Jenni has 3.7 out of 5 from 158 reviews[7]. Ratings are polarized: almost two thirds give 5 stars, almost a quarter give 1 star.
Several recent 1-star reviews are about billing: charges after cancelling and renewals people did not expect. The terms confirm that subscriptions renew automatically and that purchases are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise[3][4]. If you sign up, put the renewal date in your calendar.
Refunds, cancelling and privacy
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews until you cancel[3].
- Cancelling: any time under Billing, effective at the end of the paid period[3][4].
- Refunds: “non-refundable unless required by law”. EU residents can get a refund within 14 days of signing up, upgrading or renewing. The terms do not mention the UK, Canada or Australia[3].
- Privacy: documents are stored with Firebase and Google Cloud, no region is named. The policy says PostHog session recordings in the editor capture “the text of the document you are working on, including unpublished drafts”, unless you opt out via cookie settings. Whether your content is used to train AI models is not addressed[5].

- 1Auto-renewal: “Your subscription will continue and automatically renew unless canceled.”
- 2Refunds and cancelling: “All purchases are non-refundable unless required by law.” Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current paid term.
- 3EU only: users in the European Union can get a refund within 14 days of signing up, upgrading or renewing.

Where Jenni is the better choice
Pick Jenni AI if …
- you want to write every paragraph yourself and only need suggestions
- you work with a large PDF library and want to chat with it
- you need LaTeX export or real-time co-authoring
- your university allows AI assistance but not AI-generated drafts
- you write continuously for a year or more, so an annual plan pays off
Pick StudyTexter if …
- you need a complete draft for one paper with a fixed deadline

- you want plagiarism and AI-score checks before you submit
- you would rather pay once than manage a subscription
- you want to see your proposal draft before you pay anything

Method and disclosure
We read websites, terms and reviews ourselves, back every number with a source and access date, and only add test results once we have them. Found a mistake? We correct it with a date.
On Oct 10, 2026 we read Jenni’s pricing page in both billing views, the homepage, terms, refund policy, privacy policy and About page, plus Trustpilot and six third-party reviews. We name the commercial interest of each review we cite in the source list. We did not use Reddit, because we could not read the threads in full.
StudyTexter competes with Jenni AI. That is why we back every statement with a source and date and say openly where Jenni is the better fit. If you find a mistake, we’ll correct it and date the change.
